Pearlridge Center Supports Hawaii-Area Organizations by Hosting Light of the World Giving Machine

Each year during the holiday season, Washington Prime Group properties undertake initiatives focused on benefitting their local communities. On January 2, 2022, Pearlridge Center marked the conclusion of their holiday partnership with the Light the World Giving Machine project.

Each year, the initiative provides a simple way for people to donate gifts to help cover the costs of everyday expenses on necessities, ranging from a hot shower and laundry to groceries, rent and utility assistance, directly through the machine.

During the two-month project, visitors to Pearlridge Center donated more than $250,000 in gifts, which Pearlridge guests were able to directly select using the Giving Machine. Gifts benefitted local charities, including Aloha Medical Mission, Family Promise, Helping Hand Hawaii, and the Salvation Army. Hawaii Lt. Governor Josh Green served as the Honorary Chair for this year’s Giving Machine initiative.

During the 2021 holiday season, Honolulu was just one of 10 cities in the U.S. to host a giving machine. This innovative initiative provided a way for Pearlridge Center guests to support local charities in a simple, efficient way, while sharing in the holiday spirit.
