Washington Prime Group team members volunteer at the Columbus Dream Center

Nine members of WPG’s HR Department volunteered at the Columbus Dream Center in August, preparing and serving breakfast to nearly 100 people. The Columbus Dream Center supports underserved individuals and families through meals and resources, educational support and mentorship for students, and consistent community outreach throughout Columbus and Central Ohio. The Columbus Dream Center serves three meals per day to individuals experiencing homelessness, along with providing laundry and shower facilities.

On the morning the WPG team volunteered, the Columbus Dream Center served their largest group of people so far this year. With the WPG team’s support, the Center staff were able to help everyone who walked through their doors that day and to provide dedicated support to those who came in with more specific needs.

“We walked away with huge smiles and full hearts, knowing we represented WPG gracefully,” said Davette Wright, HR Assistant. “Our goal was not just to serve those in need but to serve them well, with compassion and humility.”

As part of the company’s Voluntary Time Off (VTO) benefit, WPG colleagues are encouraged to use up to 16 hours per year of paid time off to volunteer with an organization of their choice.
