Earlier this month, more than two dozen wpg colleagues and several friends and family members rode anywhere from 20 to 190 miles in Pelotonia. Pelotonia is a community passionate about ending cancer by accelerating funding for innovative research through a two-day cycling event in Columbus, Ohio. This year, Team wpg included 10 first-time riders.
Several colleagues also volunteered their time to make Ride Weekend a success by packing rider kits before the event and serving beverages at the 20-mile finish line.
New this year, Team wpg hosted a cheering section along the 50-mile route, complete with hand-made signs from colleagues to encourage riders.
In support of Pelotonia, wpg Cares organized several company fundraisers leading up to the ride, including a March Madness bracket competition, candy sales, and a Field Day at the Columbus corporate office, featuring the crowd-favorite dunk tank.
To date, the Pelotonia community has raised more than $283 million, with one hundred percent of every dollar donated going directly to fund life-saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. Last year, Team wpg raised a record total of $153,385. With fundraising continuing through October, the team is on its way to exceeding that total in 2024.
