During the busy holiday season, wpg Cares partnered with Seeds of Caring to provide at-home service projects that colleagues in Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana could complete with their families or department.
Interested colleagues picked up healthy breakfast kit instructions and brought the finished projects back to the office to be distributed to Star House, an organization that helps youth experiencing homelessness, and the Midwest Food Bank of Indiana in Indianapolis, Indiana. For those completing the project at home with their families, the instructions included a script to help teach kids ages 2-12 about food insecurity.
Each kit included an oatmeal packet and other food items, as well as a card to help spread holiday cheer. The goal was to provide warm meals and encouragement to families during a time when local shelters experience an uptick in need.
Several colleagues completed the project with family over Thanksgiving, while some teams packed kits together at the office. The Columbus, Ohio office held a hot chocolate bar while colleagues helped pack the first 100 kits and colleagues in the Indianapolis office packed kits together over lunch.
